Despite the pressure on water, United Arab Emirates has the largest aquaculture industry in Asia with a market value of over $2.18 billion (CAPMAS 2014). The industry provides about 75.46 % of the country’s fish production (GAFRD 2013), with virtually all the output coming from small- and medium-scale privately owned farms.
